Jason-
You need to set identity preferences to your certificates for which site
you are using. You accomplish this by right (ctrl) clicking on your
certificate in keychains and select 'new identity preference'. Here
comes the tricky part... you need to use the exact url that pulls the
certificate. Sometimes this is hard because various DoD sites like to
redirect once or twice before they pull the certificate. If they can't
find one they will redirect again to a error page. So your 'exact' url
might be redirect 2 of 3 total.
For example nmci webmail on west coast you would enter
'https://webmail.west.nmci.navy.mil' exactly. Sometimes you need a
trailing '/' sometimes you don't, it's a lot of trial and error. I have
found that nmci west does not require/want a trailing '/'.

Subject: [Fed-Talk] CAC for Mac
I've been trying to set up a CAC reader on my Mac, following the "CAC
for Mac" instructions advised by NMCI. I already had the drivers
installed on the reader, and was able to update the firmware without
difficulty.....but when I tried to install the Apple Smart Card Services
Update v1.2, it said I need to be using OS X 10.5.4 or 10.5.5 (and I'm
on 10.5.6).
Since then I learned that 10.5.6 already has all the necessary
components integrated into it, so I shouldn't need the Services Update
v1.2.....but for some reason I am still unable to access any secure DoD
sites. The CAC reader seems to be working properly, and when I put my
card in I am able to view the certificates. So I don't know if that
means I'm just doing something wrong within Keychain? If anyone has any
insight please let me know.
Thank you,
JR
