[Fed-Talk] CAC for Mac

  • Subject: [Fed-Talk] CAC for Mac

I've been trying to set up a CAC reader on my Mac, following the "CAC for Mac" instructions advised by NMCI. I already had the drivers installed on the reader, and was able to update the firmware without difficulty.....but when I tried to install the Apple Smart Card Services Update v1.2, it said I need to be using OS X 10.5.4 or 10.5.5 (and I'm on 10.5.6).

Since then I learned that 10.5.6 already has all the necessary
components integrated into it, so I shouldn't need the Services Update v1.2.....but for some reason I am still unable to access any secure DoD sites. The CAC reader seems to be working properly, and
when I put my card in I am able to view the certificates. So I don't know if that means I'm just doing something wrong
within Keychain? If anyone has any insight please let me know.

Thank you,
JR
