My wife has an DS card reader in her 17" MBP, and it "just works." If I
remember correctly, she never had to install a driver, but it recognizes the
SD card from her camera fine and iPhoto launches, ready to import.

I've got an SD card reader for the /34 slot on my MBP, but the computer has
never detected a card. I don't know if the problem is with the card, the
computer or the reader, but I gave up on it.
