Mr. Chiou's messages raises an entirely new question (I think).
AKO (and I presume all DKO) will soon transition the mail to a new version called "Enterprise Mail" (current working title is 'webmail 2.0'). "Powered by Sun microsystems" and labeled "Sun Convergence" [java powered]. It looks good, and I am actually pleased with its capability. According to the hype, the Address Book will be capable of searching the service component GAL and the AKO/DKO GAL; you really could look up anybody in DoD.
However, to use it effectively daily -- and not just for the occasional "web" access, one must also transition fully from one's local server to Enterprise Mail. It entails having the local IT people point the Exchange mail on to the Enterprise server -- in my case, sling it from conus.army.mil to us.army.mil (but not delete the local account, else (I think) no login to net).
AND -- here is the conundrum -- install a plugin to MS Outlook call "outlook connector" to handle the Calendar and Address Book synchronizations just as is done within an Exchange server (Outlook is configured as 'imap' for Enterprise Mail).
Is there, will there, be an "Entourage connector"? Would Entourage even need one? Would we use something else, say Ximian Evolution? Will us Entourage users only be limited to use Enterprise Mail as the occassional web access?
Anyone have any information on this rollout's compatability?
