Yes, I tried hacking it. Bad idea. First thing I noticed
was inability to mount .dmg files. Restarted system. Went
into white screen spin cycle, rebooting over and over.
Had to restore from TimeMachine.
My advice is don't try it. Tell your security people they
are just going to have to 'mitigate' it.
Same story for java and openssl. Come on Apple, either issue
updates or make these packages stand on their own so we can
do it for you.

Has anyone here tried manually updating Bzip2 for a 10.4.11 system? Our
security people are adamant that we have to patch Bzip up to v1.05, but the
directions at Darwin Ports (http://bzip2.darwinports.com/) refer to
non-existent directories and don't work.
