That seems a bit alarmist for a blanket policy, though it's probably
not a bad habit to get into when your leave your laptop unattended in
an insecure area, or when it's vulnerable to seizure (such as when
traveling).
But in most cases, it seems to me that if you have machines with
sensitive information that provide the degree of physical access
required by this sort of attack, you have more severe security
problems than whether or not sleep is enabled.
