On a related note, for those with newer Macbook Pros, I saw there is a
cable that takes the mini displayport signal and combines it with your
digital audio out for an HDMI signal for newer TVs. It uses a USB
port for power.

Audio Out. It's an earplug jack, just like on your iPod or iPhone.
You need a 3.5 mm Stereo to RCA plug. You can find it at radio shack
or Best Buy, or here is one that will work with an existing rca
audio cable:

Just got a DVI to VIdeo connector for a Macbook Pro 3.1 (a few
years old...hard to believe) to connect to an older projection TV.
The connector has S-video and RCA video (yellow) but how do you
connect the audio?! I called Apple. They had no idea & couldn't
find it when looking it up. I have RCA audio jacks on the TV but
where do I plug them in on the MBP?
