For what I've read on the $29/mo for Sprint tethering and being mandatory, it's not. They wish to charge for the hot spot ability. They also recognize there are alternatives and they think their solution is better. A market choice. Good for them.
That said, I've been with them for a few years and was waiting for the EVO. The new pricing structure prompted me to email their CEO. I then saw the EVO. It's HUGE! Way too big for my taste. The iPhone 4 and ATT's new limited data pricing structure will place me on the pre-order list.
The fact that my monthly payment with two iPhones will be the same as my Sprint bill now made my decision for me (and I'm a "heavy" smart phone user).
