  • Thread-topic: DHCP settings and DNS names for Active Directory systems

For OS X systems running in an Active Directory environment I have two questions. Is it necessary to put the system name in the "DHCP Client ID:" field on the TCP/IP page in Network settings? Note that the proper name has been set in Sharing settings.

Second question is whether the OS X will dynamically update Active Directory DNS? On the Active Directory DHCP server is a setting to "Dynamically update DNS A and PTR records for clients that do not request updates."

Any info on these two areas regarding integrating into AD would be helpful.

Regards,

John
