Since Microsoft Office:mac 2011 isn’t officially released yet, they haven’t put out much of any documentation for it…
There really isn’t a whole lot that I can find other than that.

While we're on topic of Office for Mac 2011, I can find zero information on MS's site regarding the removed hidden data tools in Office for Mac.
As an attorney, these features are essential. The tools in Office 2007 and 2010 for Windows are very robust, and even Office 2003 had a rudimentary tool. The "remove personal information from file on save"
isn't good enough. Other than that, Mac Office (and particularly Mac
Word) has had zero capability. The software is effectively unusable if I'm sending a document outside the organization. I need to first run it through Word for Windows.
Anyone with any intel on whether the Mac Business Unit has finally pulled their collective heads out of their [insert favorite body part here] and included any of these tools? Apparently everyone in the MBU at MS feels that all the Mac Office users must be graphics professionals rather than folks who need to manage information that's released outside the government.
Any info would be appreciated.

I haven't noticed slowness or CPU hog. But both of my machines are powerhouses. One a MacBook pro 17 with i7 processor and the other a macro with two quad processors.

you can tell, I've switched back to Mail.app. Outlook is a CPU hog, is slow, and bloated.

some information with you. While there are some significant gains and huge advantages bundled into this new release (including the return of Outlook to the Mac), there are certainly some inconsistencies when compared to the 2010 Windows version. Here's the Mac Business Unit's own comparison of their own product to the Windows version:
