Ok, I have not been paying attention as usual. Sorry.
Does anyone know how to get LION on systems that cannot be connected to the Internet?
I know I know sounds simple but I am sure it's not. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Great. Now Steve screwed me up by delaying the new Iphone until after Verizon takes away its unlimited plan so there's no way to get the unlimited with Verizon without getting into a contract today for an old phone just before the new ones come out and now he takes away the key selling point for using Macs at work. Thanks, Steve. (Can someone at Apple kick him in the ankles for me?)

Knee caps are better work on (Just kidding Steve in case you are looking but
knees are better to work on). Paul, you would still have to give up
unlimited in order to tether so its almost a moot point and unlimited was
never unlimited. No one uses Centrify or Thursby? Is it a GPO-less Mac free
for all at other agencies?

To clarify a little, third party software can provide smart card support on Lion. Thursby's PKard does that and supports all current CAC and runs on Lion.
If you want to kick Apple, you might want to kick the folks at Microsoft too. They did not include CAC support in Windows XP, and I don't think they do in Windows 7 either (unless you can use the PIV mode support). You need ActivClient for Windows.
If you want support for Oberthur ID One 128 v5.5, you can only get that with PKard.
If you want free (support it yourself) you can still use the stuff on macosforge.org, but their CACNG does not support the newer Oberthur cards.

For what it's worth, I use a next-gen CAC (Gemalto 144) on Windows 7 for web site login, email sign/encrypt, etc., all without ActivClient. So whatever one wants to call Microsoft's CAC support on Windows 7 (as I've had this discussion before), it works perfectly for every DOD site I use...

because apple doesn't give a damn about enterprise or government users. Hopefully snow leopard will be supported for 2-3 more years...
The more I find out about lion the more I don't like it. It's a major step backwards for enterprise/government users with few compelling reasons to upgrade. My major issues
1. No cac
2. No java
3. Horrendous o/s distribution model
4. The app store
5. No Rosetta
