You lock it with a PW. It uses WPA2.
AT&T not allowing tethering is BS.
That pushed me to Verizon and come to find out the Verizon iPad can use the att network (hspa+) which AT&T calls 4G.
When the new iPhone comes out I will move all my devices to Verizon.
Hope lots of others do as well. AT&T deserves a mass exodus for the no hotspot move on iPad greed.
