It seems to me there are 3 big transitions Apple is making right now:
(1) Retina-fication. iPhone+iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro.
Right now this is an expensive manufacturing process with only moderate yields. I think it will take a while to filter throughout the entire product line. I hate to think what a retina version of my 27" display would cost right now.
(2) Cloud-ification. iCloud, app stores, killing off optical drives
This is a trend that dates back to the original iMac which didn't have a floppy drive. Today Apple dumped the optical drive from the iMacs.
You also see this with apps. People point out that Apple hasn't updated iWorks for years, but they have actually spent time on it. They made iOS versions, and then they iCloudified them. I suspect these were Apple's priorities. Now whenever Apple updates iWorks (or iLife) with a new feature that affects the document structure, they will need to sync the update across both iOS and OS X in order for iCloud to keep working.
(3) Flash-ification. (not the Adobe kind)
Apple first did this with the iPod mini (and shuffle), then iPhones and iPads, then the MacBook Air. Now more recently with the MacBook Pro. Now they've added to the Mac mini and iMac the choice between ATA drive, SSD drive, or their hybrid Fusion drive. Like the Retina-ification, the SSD will cost more and will take time for prices to come down.
I'm guessing we have another 18-30 months to go to complete this transition.
All of these have various affect on enterprises. Pushing retina and flash will keep Apple prices higher than many Windows/Linux models. This can make pushing purchases through challenging when the purchasing department sees all PCs or laptops as equivalent. And Cloud-ification plays havoc for isolated networks or people with limited bandwidth.

PS. I might also add "Touch-ification". After switching to a Trackpad for my workstation, I can't go back to a mouse.
PPS. I didn't realize we had a moderator. I had almost finished this email when yours came across. I hope this is OK.
