The hard part of the certification is past for iOS and Mac OS X. Is the down hill slide from what most say, after the certified lab makes the recommendation for certifying the product to NIST.
On top of that, products like Mocana App Protection provide NIST certified crypto for almost any app today.
Don't see much need for a waiver at this point and it just gets easier in the very near future.
