A Twitter user quickly claimed credit for the incident, described as a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack by Anup Ghosh, chief scientist with security company Invincea
Since then he has posted several times that he is *not* taking credit for the attack. :) Pretty funny, and he seems to be taking it in good humor.
Oh my! The story keeps getting worse! Be careful talking to the press. Anup used to be a DARPA Program Manager, has a company which recently won a big no-bid contract with the DoD (I think DARPA). He is definitely not a "hacker".
'Anonymous' hacking shuts down ALL websites hosted by GoDaddy including thousands of small businesses
FoxNews identified the hacker as Anup Ghosh after he emailed the site and they verified his identity through various Twitter claims.
'This is yet another example of how anyone with an agenda can take down large portions of the Internet with really cheap, off-the-shelf tools,' he told the site. The question of internet security is one that Ghosh appears to know well as he is thought to be a chief scientist with Invincea, a security company specializing in cyber protection.
