SMB2 is going to become the default networking protocol in OS X moving forward.  Its kinda the way things are going, better or worse.

Our Macs are broadcasting SMB packets onto the VLAN.  This serves no useful purpose for us (unless Apple now uses SMB for Mac-to-Mac traffic!), but adds a lot of chatter.  I found a reference to turning SMB off in Leopard, but that info doesn't apple to Lion / Mountain Lion.  And while I could just block it with ipfw, I'd prefer to change this behavior as close to the source as possible, rather then simply masking it.  Anyone know where I can change this?
