Hello David,
Glad to hear CACkey 0.7.8 worked for you. I reached out directly to Ken (the guy who now maintains CACkey), and let him know of the issues I had been hearing, and experiencing myself.
It took Ken quite a bit of configuring to get it working with 10.12. It worked great in the beta versions. Apple changed something between the last beta and the final 10.12.
He sent it to me to host, and posted it on http://cackey.rkeene.org/download/0.7.8/ Not sure if he isn't able to access software.forge.mil any longer or what is going on.
Respectfully,
Michael J. Danberry

Michael,
This version worked out great for me; previously with 0.7.6 (the latest version on the software.forge.mil site) Safari didn’t work correctly, but without CACkey, I found that Firefox, Chrome, Adobe Reader, and other apps that relied on the older methods of the keychain or PKCS#11 module didn’t work.
What is the status of CACkey? I think this isn’t the first time that your site has had a newer, better working version of CACkey than software.forge.mil.
