directory hardlinks

What is the API for creating a hardlinked directory
under OS X? I see directories with the same inode
created by TimeMachine, but fs_usage isn't giving me
the scoop. None of the 10_5_AND_LATER additions for
carbon filesystem api leap out either. And link(2)
complains bitterly when asked to create a directory
hardlink. [Hoping I don't have a doh! moment]
