And if someone saying something mean about you means you're (or whichever engineer is supposed to be working on this) going to stop working on an issue that is causing user data loss, who's the fool here? I remember from my time at Apple there was an annoying bug in the 9500 and it was being blown off by the individual responsible. It took a group of internal users to light a fire under him. Looks like nothing has changed.

A few salient points;
-Bug report response are covered by the developer NDA. More to the point, if you want honest bug report responses, quoting them on a public mailing list is not going to encourage that.
-I have no idea whether Shantonu had anything to do with that bug whatsoever. I do know that monitoring this mailing list is not what he's paid to do by Apple and, like every other Apple engineer on these lists, his presence is solely driven by an honest desire to help out developers.
Saying:
> Your response was both petty and arrogant. Stop digging.
...Is not particularly kind or polite and, more to the point, unlikely to encourage him to continue helping out on this list.
