The engineer disparages himself by providing a flippant, factually incorrect response.
Yet somehow, instead of understanding that I want the problem looked at by someone who actually understands what I'm talking about, you seem to think I want the same engineer(s) who got it spectacularly wrong to look at this again. I don't. What I want is for the bug to be fixed. It's a nasty bug.

I have a free online developer account for the sole purpose of filing the occasional bug. It injures me nil to find myself terminated from the program. I'm happy to simply post my bug reports in public forums, which is arguably where they belong anyway, and has been exceptionally effective in the open source world.
The bug exists in at least three major versions of OS X, and the bug report was filed almost a year ago. It's easy to reproduce and discover exactly what's happened, and pinpoint it to Disk Utility / diskutil.
I don't need to discuss this further unless confusion remains on the significance, nature, manifestation, or solution for this problem.
However, I'd be interested if anyone knows whether diskutil is covered by APSL?
