Hello,
Does anybody know about a problem running apple packages on
a iso 9660 volume ?
I made my installer with PackageMaker on Panther, and it is
working perfectly on the disk.
But if I burn an iso CDRom (need to release a PC/MAC CDRom)
then then installer won't work on Jaguar.
Here is what I get in the log :
Error detected
Name: NSGenericException
Reason: Unable to create destination receipt directory at
/tmp/.ARP2600 V.pkg.649.install/Receipts/ARP2600 V.pkg/Contents
I guess it's a permission error, as the only things that changed
with the package on the disk are file permissions.
Is there any solution, or do I just have to put a dmg on the
CDRom to preserve file permissions ?
This is a guess, but it looks like you may have hit an ongoing
issue when spaces occur in the .pkg name or path.
We hit this some time ago, but I don't know whether our lead Mac
developer logged a bug with Apple.
We learned of it when users dragged our installer .pkg from the
.dmg on which we distribute it, to their local disk. Lots of
errors can be seen, depending on the routines your install uses.
Hope that helps,
Ted
Hi Ted, and thanks for your feedback.
I indeed also have problems copying this pkg from the cdrom to the disk.
(still only on Jaguar. I first thought the drive of my old iBook was
dead ... )
Anyway, I tried a package without spaces in its path, and I get the
same error.
Best regards,
Nicolas
