package_version?

Is the "package_version" file used by recent releases of Installer.app or is it a file that is used for old version of Installer.app (the one where the .bom, .pax[.gz] and scripts were named after the name of the package)?

The "package_version" is in the Resources folder of a .pkg (for instance in the CommonCriteriaTools.pkg).
