That doesn't actually mean you can't use tighter compression than the
usual gzip method:

This package actually recompresses .zip, .gz, .png...
(Well, PNG files can also be compressed tightly with http://
optipng.sourceforge.net/ or combining optipng then advpng)
In short, Peter might still be able to shrink everything into one CD
with some care and recompression. Rick's method is also an
interesting idea.
