I have seen many problems with using a Metapackage or distribution when
trying to install WHILE booted from the netrestore volume (meaning from
a post-action script or such). What I had to do was use a login item
that is installed and set by my post-action script, then on first login
it runs and deletes itself. I bind to AD/OD, install packages and
create users from this script, and it has been super stable for me.

Subject: Distribution Scripts in Network Installs

I am using Netboot to deploy clean installs of Apple OS X 10.4.6 and
then
apply a distribution package that includes the Mac OS X 10.4.7 combo
updater
among other things. I am having problems making this work. During
Netboot I
just get a spinning beach ball. So, 2 questions:

1) Should distribution packages work fine within NetInstall?

2) Is is there a practical size limit on the packages deployed this way?
Since the combo updater is so, big, and I have the Intel and PPC one in
there, this may be the issue.

Thanks,
Sean
