Hi all,
I've heard there is a plist file used by the installer to get the Mac OS X
version.
This came up in the context of fixing our installer for 10.4.10.

Apparently, this file can be edited to fool the installer into thinking
the OS is a different version.
The thought would be we could test the installer by tweaking this file
instead of doing system installs and upgrades.

Does anyone know what file it is??

That would be: /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist

I don't remember if the file is now the same for Mac OS X Server (it used to be different).

Note that Installer.app may use another mean to get the OS version (since this is not documented).
