Installing a kext

I am trying to install a kext as part of distribution package I am building. I have all the permissions and ownership of the kext set correctly before I build the package but what is installed is wrong. How do I get packagemaker to leave this alone or if it must twiddle, get it to "change" them correctly. It wants to make the group permissions rwe instead of r-e.
