Hi,
I’m seeing some weird behavior that is causing me to
question the order of the world.
I have metapackage A which consists of a few packages, say
package A1, A2 and A3.
I have a newer metapackage B which consists of newer
versions of the same packages, say package B1, B2 and B3.
I install metapackage B (the newer one) and then when I
install metapackage A (the older one), as expected and desired, on Tiger, the
older package (let’s say A1) is listed as SKIP because it is older than
the installed version.
On Leopard however it’s listed as UPGRADE and proceeds
to downgrade the package A1 which is very bad for us.
On Leopard when I try to install the package A1 itself (i.e.
not metpackage A but just package A1), Apple Installer does disallow me from
installing it as it’s an older version.
So it seems the problem is in Leopard, Apple Installer has
been changed, when installing a metapackage containing an older package than
installed will install it versus skipping it as in Tiger?
Thank you kindly and have a great day,
