On Leopard, there is /Library/Receipts/db/a.receiptdb, which you may want to google for information about, or search Apple's developer tool help for, as I believe there is a cli tool for removing info from this database which holds info about installed files.

Snow Leopard may work in a similar fashion (which is speculation for me, as I don't have it).
