  • Thread-topic: Can a certificate be validated without internet connection?

Hi,

I have signed my installer with productsign using Developer ID Installer certificate. The installer is made with PackageMaker and is a distribution flat package. When I run my installer with no internet/network connection the certificates appear as valid. As per my understanding (and as mentioned in the Gatekeeper and Developer ID FAQs), "Gatekeeper verifies the code signature and it is done through OCSP which talks to servers over the internet".

I fail to understand that without internet how are the certificates validated? Should the certificates appear as valid when the installer is launched for the first time with no internet connection?

Thanks,

Swaroop
