Thanks Stephane,
Indeed I tried again today and my folder in Application Support was created with the proper 777 permissions- not sure if it's because I tried on 10.7.5 and yesterday was on 10.8- is that the OS you are on? Another person tried my installer today and it was not properly creating the folder with 777 permissions (again 744).

Also we have a plug-in within the installer that used to be able to create folders with 777 permission in Application Support but it no longer works- are these new security measures imposed by recent OS versions?
