Yes, afaict. Untested, but try:

foundPackage=$(/usr/sbin/pkgutil --volume "$3" --pkgs="$INSTALL_PKG_SESSION_ID")

As always, don't forget to use $3 in your package scripts lest the wrath of sysadmins come upon you.
