You can read SO_DEBUG output using "trpt". See "man trpt" for more info. Also, read all about it in "TCP/IP Illustrated Volume 2", pp 916-920. I haven't tried "trpt" on Mac OS X, so YMMV.

What sort of socket are you using? If you're using a standard TCP socket to communicate with a remote host, it might be easier to look at the data going by with a packet trace.
