How is this done?
The docs say: "If the network number is zero, node ID $FF indicates
either a network-wide or zone-specific
broadcast" but not clear how to specify one or the other.
Since the word zone is used in this question, this sounds like an
AppleTalk question. I don't find the reference to the above
statement in IM:OT so I'm thinking that it's from Inside AppleTalk
2nd ed. which I don't have a copy of in front of me.
As I recall, if the AppleTalk network to which the system is attached
has no router or there is only one zone specified, then the above
packet is "network-wide". However, if the network to which the system
is attached has a router which defines multiple zones, then the same
packet will be received AppleTalk entities in the local zone - that
is entities in the zone across the router connection will not see the
packet.
Do i need to broadcast over every zone or can a single send cover
the entire local network?
Broadcasts would have to go to each zone.
