It really sounds like your computer is very sick. Is this your main machine, or a victim test machine? Either way, I'd probably start over with a clean install of an appropriate system. Then set up your network preferences, then save a copy of the preference files (specifically "TCP/IP Preferences" in the Preferences folder). After that run your code and see what happens. If you get into trouble, trash the "Open Transport Preferences" folder from your Preferences folder (this is where Network Setup stores its mirror of the network prefs), replace the "TCP/IP Preferences" file with your known good one, and restart. This should be a reliable way to test and debug network setup issues. If you find yourself in trouble, it might be good to ResCompare the broken prefs file with the known good one. The preferences file format is well documented in the "Open Tpt TCP/IP Dev. Note" in the OT SDK.
