Getting the gateway address certainly can be useful, but is not
necessarily
the same as getting the DHCP server address. DHCP often is served by a
machine other than the gateway. Furthermore, the network stack has no
reason to notice or remember the address of the DHCP server. Probably
the
only way to get the DHCP server address is to drop a request packet on
the
network and look at the source of the response. (I am sure someone more
knowledgeable than me will correct me if I am wrong. :-)
I realize the gateway and DHCP server can be different. I was hoping
that somebody in the BSD TCP stack saved the address of the server who
game the current lease and there was an easy way to get at it.
