carbonized OpenSSL

does anyone know if any work has been done to produce a Carbon version of OpenSSL (www.openssl.org)? I downloaded the latest version (0.9.6d) and even the Classic Mac OS project is out of date. it doesn't build due to missing files in the source tree.

I know that OpenSSL exists on OS X as a MachO library but I'd like to produce a single solution that works on both OSs. thus my interest in a carbonized OpenSSL.
