FTP in the Finder

Hi!

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask about this but feel free to
redirect me.

I listened to the Power of X presentation and was very interested by
something Avie Tevanian said. He mentionned that protocols are pluggable in
Mac OS X, and that support for AppleTalk, SMB and WebDAV, for example, are
currently implemented this way. What I'm wondering is, is there such a thing
for FTP? And what about the APIs to create a pluggable protocol module, are
those public?

Steve
