The reason you cannot get more than v.34 speeds (i.e 31,200) is
because V.90 requires 1 loop between the two modems, i.e a digital
switch. With a typical dial in setup the modem in the basestation
goes through 1 loop, and the modem in the box you are dialing from is
another loop, by loop I am talking about the analog to digial
conversion that occurs on the last mile.
ISP's are able to provide V.90/V.92speeds because there is typically
only one loop when you call into their POP. i.e There is one analog
to digital conversion before it is piped directly into the Modem bank.

Hi,
Does any know, why I cannot get a higher speed than 31200 when I dial into
my airport base station, using the dial in feature ???. I remember before
when I was dialing out from the base station to my ISP that I could get much
higher speed ???.
is there some setting for this ???, as I thought that both modems should
talk to each other to find the highest speed they can talk at and then go
with that is that going on ???.
Thanks
Mark.
