Indexing Network Volumes

  • Subject: Indexing Network Volumes

After few days of using OS X for the first time I have tried to find files
on our file server (unix based Dell) with Sherlock.

Unfortunately, I get an following error message:

Unable to search the names and contents of the files on the selected volume
because an unexpected error occurred.

Try again. If you continue to encounter problems, open the Index Volumes
window and delete the index, then create a new index.

Error number: -1304

Now, I have deleted index for this volume (Find, Delete Index). Behind of
the drive name in Sherlock it is written:

Can''t index this volume. Add folders and index them.

Where should I add folders? When I go to Find, Add folder it puts chosen
folder from remote drive on the list in Sherlock, gives me possibility to
index it, but situation on remote drive remains the same (Can't index this
volume...)

Any possible solutions?

p.s. The strangest thing is that both of my local drives have the same
message in Sherlock (Can't index this volume...) but Sherlock does search
for files on them?!?
