Believe me... myself and a few others on the carbon list have talked this
over with ADR. They are firm. Hell, after we complained last year, they went
and raised the price $100 :)
I know this has virtually nothing to do with the engineers or tech
writers... it's some dufus in ADR that decided "hey, we have virtually no
information available on Jaguar, so why we don't we hit these suckers up for
$800. I can then show my VP how my division actually generates revenue for
the company". (OK, maybe it's not that bad... but maybe it is... you tell me
how else they can justify $800)

I've asked for, if nothing else, the slides (they used to do that). "No, but
you can buy the DVDs" I was told.

Making nice DVDs does cost money... but $800? I don't think so. (and if
Apple would just add AppleScript support to DVD Studio Pro, then the
production cost would be virtually nothing! ;-)

CF documentation soon.
Well, seeing as we could *begin* coding for Jaguar four months ago and we
still don't have comprehensive documentation even for 10.1 technologies, I'm
not going to hold my breath on the "soon" part. If Apple made this
information more accessible they might, just might, have had more Jaguar
compatible apps/kexts/etc. available the day Jaguar launched. You'd surely
think so.
No, my problem is the the simple idea that ADR seems to see developers as a
potential revenue source instead of as partners. (Probably why Heidi Rozen
really quit.) ADR doesn't seem to get it that having more developers and
more informed developers will help Apple sell computers and software. <sigh>
This was a big thread on the carbon list a week or two ago, so I promise
I'll stop here right now. Suffice it to say that I'm very disillusioned by
ADR these days.
