res_search result parsing

Looking at the nameser.h header under MacOS X 10.2.5 it appears that
there are a number of resource record parsing related functions missing
e.g. ns_init_parse and ns_parserr. Where these moved elsewhere or is
there another way to obtain the same info as returned by res_search w/o
relying on OT / OTInetQuery? Thanks.
