Hi,
I was wondering while Netscape and Camino have had the built-in
ability to
use proxy auto-configuration scripts for a while. Is there any chance
that
Safari to have this support, as large corporations drive everything
through
proxies and some via pac files especially BT where I work and this is a
disadvantage for the MacOS users here.
Or would this be added in at the network level ???. So anything
going out
would go through it first maybe ???.
Would be good at the network level I reckon, although this has
traditionally been an application based thing. Until it is available in
the System, or supported by more applications, (warning, plug inbound!)
Authoxy recently added PAC support to its list of services. As long as
your application takes note of the proxy setting in System Preferences
(Safari does), Authoxy will intercept the request, parse the PAC
script, and act accordingly.
Authoxy is available at the HRSoftWorks site in my signiture.
Any plans on including this in the system? Kudos to the network team on
getting proxy authentication happening in the latest seed of Panther, I
wonder if PAC or NTLM is on the way? Because if they are, Authoxy will
finally become redundant ;)
