So now that I've got some server software written, I would like to test it to see how well it holds up under certain types of attacks (SYN floods and other types of attacks). I guess I am wondering what the best way to test my software's robustness is. Are there applications out there to do this kind of testing (aside from the crap that all the script kiddies put out there) like there are for port scanning, etc? Or am I pretty much stuck writing my own testing suite?

I'm curious to hear what others suggest.

I've generally written my own suite to exercise various transactions.
The DHCP Test tool in IPNetMonitor is one such example.

I thought "SYN flood" was more of an attack on the network stack than an
individual server.
