Title: Clock Drift Problem
I posted the following note on another list where someone suggested I might have a networking issue. Here is that post:
I've got an app (OS 9 only) that appears to be causing the system clock to run slow.
The app makes NO calls to SetTime or SetDateTime but routinely calls GetDateTime during the life of the run.
Comparing the menu bar clock to a local NTP Server shows that the computer (1.25 GHZ single processor G4) is lagging the NTP clock by 45 seconds per hour. On a beige G3 (300 MHZ) the difference is less but still observable over a few hours time.
The app is quite large (400,000 lines of code) and touches many Apple technologies.
I'm not sure where to look for a fix. So in general, what could cause the system clock to run slow?
----------
Additional information:
The app is the client side of a client/server pair. The server offers up tons of data that is piped to the client for display. Both AppleTalk and TCP/IP protocols are involved. The interesting thing is the server doesn't exhibit the clock slowdown. Only the client does.
Do you think I have a networking issue?
Gary
