Hey Everyone

Seeing as I'm the most active person from Apple on this list at the moment, I thought I'd send a note about what I'll answer and what I won't. Basically, it goes like this:

o If it's a user-level question, I'll most probably ignore it. This
is a programmer's mailing list and discussion should be limited
to programming IMHO. For user-level help, see the newsgroup
comp.sys.mac.comm (or one of the mailing lists referenced by
  lists.apple.com).

o If I know the answer, I'll answer your question straightaway.

o If the answer is easy to find, I'll find it and then post it.

o If one of the Apple engineers lurking on the list sends me the
  answer, I'll forward it on.

o If it's a tough question, I won't spend a lot of time researching it.
Unfortunately I have only a limited number of cycles to spend on
mailing list work. My real job is answering people who pay DTS
  for the privilege.

o If I don't know the answer, I'll keep quiet.

o If you continue a mailing list discussion by replying to my Apple
email address, be prepared for me to post the response to the entire
list. If the discussion must be confidential, let me know in your
  email.

If you don't hear an answer from me here, you might trying forwarding your question to DTS <http://developer.apple.com/technicalsupport/index.html> and I'll try to answer it on company time.

Some hints for getting a good response:

o Please restrict your posts to a single topic. While it may seem
like an optimisation to bundle all your questions together, it
just makes the threads harder to follow.

o Try to include all relevant information in your first post.
Information like your target OS, the frameworks you're using,
your development environment, the steps you've already taken
to fix the problem, console messages, backtraces, CrashReport
logs, and so on, can all be helpful.

o Before posting to the list, go to <http://developer.apple.com>
and enter your question into the search box. You'll be amazed
at how often that will find the right answer, or a useful lead.

Share and Enjoy
