Can't add more files

I seem to have reached a limit on the number of files: when I try to add any more, it just beeps. Is there a limit, and is there any way of getting around it?

This is with VISE X 1.2.1. The archive currently has 32295 files in it (it's a 6-CD multimedia product). I have several hundred more files still to add. At the moment, I'm trying to add folders of 50-130 files each.
