Thanks Quinn for the input, and Yes I generated a dts incident on this. But
can I ask for more programmatic way to do this then (Not sure what the list
thinks), as having flash windows with mail starting up and down, and
possible errors if they have no net connection. (i.e. via AppleScript)
I've entered a rdar://3970952
This is one problem I think all mail clients suffer is each have their own
settings, why cannot they share them as it would make migration between mail
apps a whole bunch easier, and also help in getting users setup
automatically a lot quicker without the typical follow these instructions
and then they never do (due to typos, mail application terminology ..etc).
The main point here is making a user's experience with little of no
knowledge in getting this going, to me this is part of the MacOS ease of
use. (Take my my Dad as an example, mail settings makes no sense to him, and
I ended up using AppleRemote software to configure his machine from 350+
miles away, gave up on talking him through it)
Its a shame but there was being to be a nice way for all this held central
in Classic, which started to happen.
I've bitten the bullet and engineered some code to do this all now, which is
presently working OK, so I've guessed I'll cause a knock on effect now and
they change in Tiger :-(, but we do need this now and in previous systems.
Please consider it like you did for network settings.
Thanks
Mark.
PS - Anybody on the list from other mail reader would love to hear from you
as well as I would ideally like to configure yours as well. E.g. Entourage
or Eudora .. etc
