Perhaps you need to spend some time with a book like W. Richard
Stevens' "Unix Network Programming, v1, 2ed (or 3ed)". First, what do
you mean "code ... gets autorouted"? Second, bind() has *no* effect
on routing. Routing is dictated by the destination address of the
packet you want to be sent.
A quick followup to my own post: in lieu of Stevens (which is probably
the best reference there is; the 3rd ed is reportedly as good as the
2nd, although written/modified by others), there is Beej's Guide to
Network Programming, which gets good reviews from those who have read
it:
