Reserved PORT number ?

  • Subject: Reserved PORT number ?

I have just tested an app on an Intel based Mac
that accepts connections on TCP port numbers in
the range 50002 - 50009. It is built using BSD
sockets.

Whenever another app connects to my server
apps' port number 50008 the server app crashes.
Ports 50002-50007 work fine as does 50009.

The server app does not exhibit the problem on
any of the PPC on which I have tested.

I have checked the 10.4 Port Reference Doc. and
my range is not in use by any listed services.

I can slide the range to avoid the problem but
I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to
what gives.

M
