Hi, there. This is my first post to the mailing list, so allow me
to introduce myself. My name is Mark Christian. To set the
appropriate dumbing down level for myself, I'm new to Mac
development, but I have several years of web and Windows
programming. I've been a Mac user at home for about a year and I've
just started Mac development at work in the past few weeks.
I need to be able to set a few parameters for a given network
connection, namely, toggling DHCP and setting DNS servers. I've
read through the System Configuration Programming guidelines, but
I'm finding it a bit complex. I don't need to define a new location
or device, just set a few parameters on one of them. Does anyone
have any experience with this matter, or know of a sample
application somewhere that might be useful?
The source for scutil and scselect is available on the darwin website
(see <http://developer.apple.com/darwin>; also the Open Darwin
website has some sources).
In addition, google for Jeffrey Frey's "ncutil", which comes with
source. It is more or less a command-line version of the Network
Preferences panel.
